La obra
Una virgen que crece, literalmente.
Impresa en 3D en material translúcido e iluminada desde adentro. Su tamaño es la barra de progreso: cada aporte de su gente la hace más grande.
Crece en doce etapas, de 41 milímetros a 8,108 metros. Se levantará en un lugar público de Barranquilla, aún por definir.

+ Cómo se construye
El cuerpo es PETG translúcido, el mismo material en todas las etapas. Adentro, una columna de luz blanca fría de 6000 K la enciende completa: de noche parece tallada en hielo.
Se diseña, se imprime y se ensambla en Barranquilla.
+ Por qué se llama así
«Creciente» tiene tres sentidos. La luna creciente bajo sus pies, la que va camino a llenarse. La virgen creciente, que sube con cada aporte. Y el río creciente: cuando el Magdalena sube, aquí se le dice «la creciente».

La proporción áurea, φ: el número al que tiende la sucesión de Fibonacci.
En algunas etapas la medida es la figura; en otras, el conjunto con pedestal.
+ De dónde sale la medida
El radio de la Tierra mide 6.371 km y el de la Luna 1.737 km. Sumados dan 8.108. La etapa doce mide 8,108 metros: el mismo número, a otra escala.
Desde 1509 a este número se le llama «la divina proporción», por el libro de Luca Pacioli ilustrado por Leonardo da Vinci. Aparece en las semillas de un girasol, en la concha de un nautilus y en los brazos de una galaxia espiral.

La colección
Llévate una etapa a casa.
Las seis primeras etapas, a escala de colección. Cada pieza lleva cúpula, pedestal y luz propia con batería recargable por USB. El excedente de cada venta se va a la siguiente etapa.

La fundación
Creciente del Río, la Fundación.
Detrás de la escultura hay una entidad sin ánimo de lucro, registrada en la Cámara de Comercio de Barranquilla con el NIT 902.094.814-3. Recibe y administra los aportes para que se conviertan, íntegros, en obra.
Además, la fundación dona el 30% de sus ingresos al cuidado de niños y a otras causas benéficas.

+ ¿Mi donación tiene beneficio tributario?
Muy pronto. Estamos trabajando para que la fundación entre al Régimen Tributario Especial. Mientras tanto, te entregamos una constancia de tu donación, todavía sin descuento en la declaración.
+ ¿Cómo sé que el dinero llega a la obra?
Hay una cuenta bancaria exclusiva a nombre de la fundación y ningún aporte pasa por cuentas personales. El informe de recaudo, gasto y saldo está disponible para quien lo pida.

The work
A virgin that grows. Literally.
3D-printed in translucent material and lit from within. Her size is the progress bar: every contribution makes her taller.
She grows in twelve stages, from 41 millimetres to 8.108 metres. She will stand in a public place in Barranquilla, yet to be announced.

+ How it is built
The body is translucent PETG, the same material in every stage. Inside, a column of cool 6000 K light switches her on whole: at night she looks carved out of ice.

+ Why the name
«Creciente» has three meanings in Spanish: the crescent moon under her feet, the virgin who grows with every contribution, and the rising river — when the Magdalena rises, locals call it «la creciente».
The twelve stages
Each one 1.618 times the last.
The golden ratio, φ: the number the Fibonacci sequence tends towards.
In some stages the measurement is the figure; in others, the whole piece with its pedestal.
+ Where the measurement comes from
The Earth’s radius is 6,371 km and the Moon’s 1,737 km. Together they make 8,108. Stage twelve measures 8.108 metres: the same number, at another scale.
Since 1509 this number has been called «the divine proportion», after Luca Pacioli’s book illustrated by Leonardo da Vinci. It appears in sunflower seeds, the nautilus shell and the arms of spiral galaxies.

The first six stages at collector scale. Each piece comes with a dome, a pedestal and its own light with a USB-rechargeable battery. The surplus of every sale goes to the next stage.

The foundation
Creciente del Río, the Foundation.
Behind the sculpture is a non-profit entity, registered with the Barranquilla Chamber of Commerce, tax ID 902.094.814-3. It receives and manages contributions so they turn, in full, into the work.
The foundation also donates 30% of its income to child care and other charitable causes.

+ Is my donation tax-deductible?
Very soon. We are working to bring the foundation into the Special Tax Regime. Meanwhile, we issue a record of your donation, still without a tax deduction.

There is a dedicated bank account in the foundation’s name and no contribution goes through personal accounts. The report of funds raised, spent and remaining is available to anyone who asks.
